CLL at IRL

(Conservation and Legacy Lands)

Conservation and Legacy Lands at IRL.

The first goal of Hawai‘i Life’s Conservation and Legacy Lands initiative is to generate awareness of the role that conservation plays in Hawai‘i’s future and to further conservation efforts across Hawai‘i. We are doing a little of that at HL IRL.

Road Trip to Alakoko Fishpond

Holoholo with Hawaii Life’s Conservation and Legacy Land Director Beth Robinson to one of Kauai’s most special cultural spaces for lunch, learning, awe, and inspiration. One year ago Mālama Hulēʻia, with the assistance of the Trust for Public Land and significant private donations, purchased 102 acres to protect Alakoko Fishpond from development in perpetuity. Assisting in the protection and stewardship of Hawaiian places of cultural and environmental significance is the mission of HLʻs Conservation and Legacy Lands practice.

Come learn about the function and role of fishponds across Hawaiʻi and their significance for future food self-sufficiency for our communities. Gear will be provided to get your hands in the ʻāīna, nourishing your heart and soul in one of the most beautiful spots on Kauai.

Land in Hawai‘i is not just real estate.

In 2018, Hawaii Life launched a Conservation and Legacy Lands initiative in recognition that preserving Hawaiʻi is part of our kuleana as a Hawaiʻi-based brokerage – a responsibility of environmental and cultural stewardship we take seriously. The initiative was launched to further conservation efforts across Hawaii by leveraging our considerable and wide-reaching platform. Please view this video to learn more about the genesis of this crucial effort.

As a specialized area of real estate practice, Conservation and Legacy Lands focuses on places with environmental, agricultural, or cultural conservation values (or sometimes all of these). These are properties that should either remain entirely undeveloped or whose unique values present a need for conservation through highly sensitive development – which may sometimes be mandated by Hawaiʻi legal and regulatory frameworks.

In addition to listing these unique properties, we are here to generate and expand a pool of committed buyers and donors for conservation purchases in Hawaii, and to represent these clients, as well as communities that steward these properties, in their conservation efforts.  Hawaii Lifeʻs Conservation and Legacy Lands initiative serves our clients by identifying and gathering information about suitable properties across the state, educating our brokers and agents, collaborating with conservation entities, and refining best practices for representing sellers and buyers of properties suitable for conservation in Hawaiʻi.
